I know the polls have indicated all along that Obama could win. Still, I did not believe the American voter could be so stupendously stupid that they would elect an absolute socialist as President. (Good God, they re-elected Murtha!) And then give him a greater majority of democrats in the House and Senate to help in his vision for America! Because Obama's vision of America is not mine, by any stretch of the imagination. Yes, he is the President of the USA, or will be soon enough. Therefore, he will be my President, disgusting as that may be.
Two quotes come to mind:
1. Outside Independence Hall when
the Constitutional Convention of 1787 ended,
Mrs. Powel of Philadelphia asked Benjamin Franklin,
"Well, Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?"
With no hesitation whatsoever, Franklin responded,
"A republic, if you can keep it."
I think we know the answer to that one.
2. "A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship."
"The average age of the worlds greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:
From Bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;
From dependence back into bondage."
The above quote from "Alexander Tyler" is very likely fictitious. His name was actually "Lord Woodhouselee, Alexander Fraser Tytler," and he was a Scottish historian/professor who wrote several books in the late 1700s and early 1800s.
I think we are at the "dependence" stage. The socialists/democrats are VERY good at getting people dependent of the government.
This may be a bit tough/emotional, but if there ever is a time for some raw emotion, this is it.
Even with all the bad news, however, I will not give up on "MY AMERICA". My America is hurt, and hurt bad, but she is not dead. I'll be down in the dumps for a few days, then get up, dust myself off and move forward. Where there is life, there is hope.
