There is a tax plan out there that would set this economy on fire. It would reduce the power of the politicians. It would get rid of the dreaded April 15th scramble. It would make the USA the economic oasis in an increasingly desperate world. What is it?
The Fair Tax - Official Website
Here is a brief primer from their site:
What is the FairTax plan?
The FairTax plan is a comprehensive proposal that replaces all federal income and payroll based taxes with an integrated approach including a progressive national retail sales tax, a prebate to ensure no American pays federal taxes on spending up to the poverty level, dollar-for-dollar federal revenue neutrality, and, through companion legislation, the repeal of the 16th Amendment.
The FairTax Act (HR 25, S 296) is nonpartisan legislation. It abolishes all federal personal and corporate income taxes, gift, estate, capital gains, alternative minimum, Social Security, Medicare, and self-employment taxes and replaces them with one simple, visible, federal retail sales tax administered primarily by existing state sales tax authorities.
The FairTax taxes us only on what we choose to spend on new goods or services, not on what we earn. The FairTax is a fair, efficient, transparent, and intelligent solution to the frustration and inequity of our current tax system.
The FairTax:
* Enables workers to keep their entire paychecks
* Enables retirees to keep their entire pensions
* Refunds in advance the tax on purchases of basic necessities
* Allows American products to compete fairly
* Brings transparency and accountability to tax policy
* Ensures Social Security and Medicare funding
* Closes all loopholes and brings fairness to taxation
* Abolishes the IRS
We offer a library of information throughout this Web site about the features and benefits of the FairTax plan. Please explore!
(By the way - IT IS NOT A VALUE-ADDED TAX (VAT)!)
You can go to the website and learn all you need to know about this proposal. Neal Boortz and Congressman John Linder also have two books on the Fair Tax. The first one describes the process. The second answers the critics. They had to write the second book because whenever the Fair Tax is discussed in the news or Capitol Hill they always lie about it. (What a surprise!)
Liberals and politicians are terrified of this tax plan, so it must be good!
Learn about this plan. It is a TRUE SOLUTION to a lot of our problems.
There is a reason the colonist raised their hands and said "No More!" There is a reason they rebelled against a land that was once their home. There is a reason they, led by our founding fathers, declared themselves a sovereign nation.
That reason was TAXATION!!!
The subject of taxation and the manner in which it was to be gathered was so important that our founding fathers addressed it in the very first article of the Constitution: Art. 1 Sec. 8 and Art. 1 Sec. 9.
Art. 1 Sec. 8: Congress shall have the Power to lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Excises, and Imposts, to pay for the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the UnitedStates; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;
Art. 1 Sec. 9: No Capitation, or other direct, Tax shall be laid, unless in Proportion to the Census or Enumeration herein before directed to be taken.
On February 3, 1913 Congress created the sixteenth amendment. This amendment
totally disregarded the wisdom of our forefathers and the protections they had created to protect us from a government that had become self important.
Amendment XVI: The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration.
What does that sound like to you? You are right! Congress said we are going to do what we want to do and don't need your approval regardless of the foundation of our very creation: "THE CONSTITUTION"!
The sixteenth amendment is unconstitutional to the very core of the constitution.
Our present system taxes and takes funds from the worker and if the said worker works harder, it punishes them and taxes and takes more. This system takes away an individuals drive to do better, to produce more, to make a better product. Why should the individual work harder, just to be put into a higher tax bracket? Why? In our present system of taxation there are those that are said to not be putting in their fair share,(i.e., the rich, the illegals immigrants, the criminals). If there is one thing that we Americans want: it is to be treated fairly.
There is a solution to this insanity in Congress. There is a way that we Americans can regain our pride, our self drive, our incentive. That solution is in the House of Representatives and is known as House Resolution 25, The Fairtax.
"H.R. 25: The Fairtax" will abolish the Internal Revenue Service and repeal the sixteenth amendment. H.R. 25 will change the way our federal government gathers revenue from that of an "income tax" to that of a "consumption tax". By changing over to a consumption tax rather then an income tax, whatever you earn you take home. You only pay taxes on the new products or services you purchase. You only pay taxes on what you consume. We Americans are a nation of consumers. We like our toys. You put more money in our pocket by not taxing us to death and we will spend it.
"H.R. 25: The Fairtax" is not only what our country needs. It is right and totally constitutional. It is an indirect tax. If you do not want to pay the tax you do not buy the product. There are no loopholes for those with lawyers to find a way to not pay their fair share. Lobbyist, in Capitol Hill, bargaining for the wants of their clients will be a thing of the past. April 15th will return to being just the middle of the month. Everyone will pay their share. Citizens, resident aliens, illegal immigrants, criminals, and not only that tourists will be providing funds for our government.

Well said, Ron! I like this part particularly:

Wouldn't that be nice?!
