What Else Could Be In That Reconciliation Bill?

I saw this WSJ Opinion Piece referenced over at AceOfSpadesHQ.

It is entitled - That Other Government Takeover

Look what the collectivists are planning for student loans:

"Everyone knows Democrats are planning to use the budget reconciliation process to get ObamaCare through the Senate. Less well known is that Democrats are plotting add-ons to that bill to get other liberal priorities enacted—programs that could never attract 60 votes.

One of these controversial measures rewrites the Higher Education Act to ban private companies from offering federally guaranteed student loans as of this July."

The government doesn't like competition in its quest for unlimited power.

Democrats aim to bring their education revolution to the floor without a committee vote or even a hearing in the Senate.

The health care scam is bad enough.  Add in the takeover of student loans, plus whatever else the liberals may sneak into the overall bill, and you have an unbelievable increase in government control and an equal decrease in your freedom.

On Why The Government Always Grows

In my reading about the Cloward-Pivens Strategy I came across this absolute gem of a passage.  It tells in the most concise way I have seen why government always grows bigger and bigger.

It was over on American Daughter:

"Why does virtually every liberal scheme result in ever-increasing public spending while conditions seem to get continually worse? There are a number of reasons:

   1. The programs usually create adverse incentives. This is especially true in so-called “anti-poverty” programs. The beneficiaries find government subsidies a replacement for, rather than a supplement to, gainful employment and eventually become incapable of supporting themselves. This in turn creates a dependent culture with its attendant toxic behaviors which demand still more government “remedies.”
   2. The programs create their own industry, complete with scads of “think tanks” and “experts” who survive on government research grants. These are the aptly named “Beltway Bandits.”
   3. They create their own bureaucracies, whose managers conspire with interested members of Congress to continually increase program funding, regardless of merit.
   4. Members of Congress secure votes and campaign donations by extorting them from beneficiaries of such programs, either through veiled threats — “vote for me or those mean Republicans will wipe out your benefits” — or promises of still more bennies.

In short, all develop a vested interest in the program’s survival. But if the result is always more and more government, of government, by government, and for government, with no solution in sight, then why do liberals always see government as the solution rather than the problem?"

Cloward-Pivens use this fact to implement their strategy to bring down the USA.  They are winning at the moment.

Allen West Is Someone To Watch

I have read some stuff about Allen West.  He is a retired soldier running for Congress in Florida.  I took a quick look at his website and agree with him about 85%.  Good enough for me.

But what I really love about this guy is his common sense view of our fight against Islam.

When Does This Madness End?

By madness I mean the fantasyland the collectivists in D.C. live in.  They continue to spend money they don't have as if nothing is going on.  It is the old "I still have checks so I must still have money" joke.

The proposed budget is insane!  Our national debt is already so large we can barely afford the interest on it, never mind actually paying the principal back!  And yet the morons in D.C want to add another few trillion to the debt.  And Obama's talk of "cuts" was quickly revealed to be nothing of the sort.

People!  This is not sustainable!  This will end, and it will not be pleasant.

We can try and pull on the reins some in November 2010 and 2012.  It may be a case of too little, too late, though.  Still, on a national level it is probably the best we can hope for.  The collectivists are genetically incapable of stopping their spending spree.  Perhaps the Republicans can grow a spine and elect adults to try and clean up this mess.

On a personal level, get prepared for ANYTHING.  Rely on YOURSELF!  The government will not be there to help, and would only cause more problems anyway.

Feeling Less Free?

Do you have that nagging feeling that just maybe we are not as free as we used to be?  That this growth of government, with all the associated taxes and regulations, keeps adding up and never get smaller?  (Under BOTH Democrats AND Republicans!)

Well, you are right.  The Heritage Foundation has put out its "2010 Index Of Economic Freedom" and the USA has dropped to 8th place.  We are no longer in the top "Free" category.  We have dropped to the "Mostly Free" category.  Pretty disgusting for a country that was founded on freedom and liberty.

Here is what the Index had to say about the USA:

"The U.S. government’s interventionist responses to the financial and economic crisis that began in 2008 have significantly undermined economic freedom and long-term prospects for economic growth. Economic freedom has declined in seven of the 10 categories measured in the Index.

Uncertainties caused by ongoing regulatory changes and politically influenced stimulus spending have discouraged entrepreneurship and job creation, slowing recovery. Leadership in free trade has been undercut by “Buy American” provisions in stimulus legislation and failure to pursue previously agreed free trade agreements with Panama, Colombia, and South Korea. Tax rates are increasingly uncompetitive, and massive stimulus spending is creating unprecedented deficits. Bailouts of financial and automotive firms have generated concerns about property rights."

To make things worse, our government seems hell-bent on continuing this slide less freedom.

Elections have consequences.  We are seeing the results of the last several elections. 

Don't make the same mistakes in 2010 and 2012.

Gingrich - Shut Up And Go Away

So Gingrich is now saying the republicans should work with Pelosi.

Newt: GOP would be "clever" to work with Pelosi

Gingrich sees the Massachusetts as a boost for his party, but also as a renunciation of go-it-alone by either party, and thinks Republicans would be "clever" to pass a series of relatively non-controversial measures with "huge bipartisan majorities."

Newt, you had your chance and you blew it.  Then you went and sat on a couch with Pelosi and bought into the Climate Change bulls&*t.

And they say you are considering a run in 2012?!?!?!?  Please, God, NO!

Just shut up already, and leave.

Hook Up The Generator To The Democrats, 'Cause they're Gonna Spin This Loss Like Mad

Scott Brown did it!  He won.  This victory gives those of us who believe in freedom a little bit of real hope.  We are a VERY LONG WAY from slaying this monster of liberalism and collectivism, but we have now seen it can be done.  Think about it.  This was the seat Ted Kennedy had for 47 years.  It is now in Republican hands!

I see Brown's victory as a clear repudiation of Obama, Pelosi and Reid's collectivist agenda.  To me it is that simple.  People saw what "Hope & Change" was bringing them, and they didn't like it.

Now let us sit back and watch the democrat powers-that-be try to spin this loss as anything other than what it is.  They are already saying stuff like Coakley was a terrible candidate, or even that Brown's win was somehow a loss for the Republicans.  (I can't figure THAT one out.)

It will also be fun watching the Democrat Representatives and those Senators up for re-election. 

In any event, you know the collectivists are worried.   And they should be.

Now, on to November 2010!

UPDATE:  Just so you all don't get TOO excited, and to show how republicans are never too far from "being stupid", Scott Brown said on some interview this morning "he doesn't think it was a referendum on President Barack Obama".  Like Hell it wasn't!  Stupid thing to say.

Brown Vs. Coakley - This Should Be Interesting

Tomorrow could be an interesting day.  Obviously, I am hoping Brown wins by a HUGE margin.  And I am hoping that his victory will be a springboard to a landslide for individualists in November 2010.

There is no doubt there is a lot of anger in this country.  People, of all traits, who play by the rules, are sick of being slammed with crushing taxes and ridiculous government rules and regulations.  The actions of the "Imperial Congress" have made us feel like serfs, not citizens.

So, let's see what happen tomorrow.  Like I said, this could be interesting.

If You Have Kids Or Grandkids You Should Be Very Angry

Heck, if you have nieces, nephews or any young person you care about you should be livid with what our government is doing to them.

What is the government doing?  No less than destroying the American Dream for them.  That's what.  What dream would that be?  To me, it is the knowledge that if you study hard, work hard, take responsibility for you actions, and develop your individual talents (whether as a doctor or a dancer or whatever) you will be able to live you life to the fullest with only minimal interference from a controlling government.  Basically, you are a free human being endowed with "certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness".

That dream is well on its way to becoming a fable spoken of at night around the fireplace about how things used to be. 

*Our children are already saddled with a crushing debt load that simply cannot be paid back.  And the collectivists are adding more debt as fast as possible.  Our kids will pay the price for this orgy of spending over the past few decades.

*The education system has been dumbed-down thanks to the effects of political correctness cheating our kids out of the benefits of rigorous and tough studies.  But don't worry, the kids "feel good" about themselves.

*Our kids are growing up in an increasingly regulated world where initiative and daring are frowned upon and punished by ridiculous lawsuits or government rules.

*Our kids are being exposed to actions of our Presidents, Senators and Representatives that are reprehensible, lacking all sense of honor or virtue.  Our "leaders" and Hollywood have relegated the concepts of honor and virtue to the trash heap of cultural history.

I could go on, but you get the point.  I am furious at what the government is doing to me, I am livid at what they are doing to my kids' future. 

BUT!  There is something you can do for your kids.  Of course, be active in trying to turn away this tide of collectivism at the ballot box, but the more important thing is to prepare your kids.  Teach them responsibility and self-reliance.  (Yes, a good dose of suvivalism won't hurt!)  Teach them that success comes from within them and not from some government handout.  Show them what the government has done to their future, so they know who to blame down the road.  In short, raise them as Americans should be raised, with pride in themselves and our history as a country.  So, even if the country goes to hell, your kids can be prepared to pick up the pieces and do it right next time. 

USA Must Curb Debt - Or Else

This headline hints at the troubles ahead due to the spending spree of our government:

Here is a bit of the article:

"The United States must soon raise taxes or cut government spending to curb its debt, and failure to act will risk a crippling dollar crisis as investor confidence ebbs, a panel of experts said on Wednesday.

"It has got to be done. It will be done some day. It may be done with enormous pain. Or it may be done more rationally," said Rudolph Penner, a former head of the nonpartisan Congressional Budget office who co-chaired the 24-strong Committee on the Fiscal Future of the United States."

I agree with the experts" on that statement.  However, I disagree with them on the following:

"In the next year or two, large deficits and more borrowing are unavoidable given the severity of the economic downturn. However, action ought to begin soon thereafter," they said.

We cannot borrow our way into a recovery.  It is that simple.  Another drink will not make you less drunk.  Experts never seem to get this point.

In my opinion the political leaders of this country do not have the will or desire to do what is necessary to save our economy, if it is even possible at this point, which I doubt.

Our best hope is that the democrats lose BIG-TIME in the fall of 2010 and 2012, and that the republicans truly have learned their lesson about fiscal austerity.  There will still be pain but we may survive and thrive later on.
