Woohoo! Got my order of heirloom, non-hybrid seeds today from Victory Seed Company. I had my first garden in a loooong time last year. It was pretty much a bust except for the cucumbers, peppers, and a few tomatoes. However, I learned a lot! Not enough sun, started some stuff way too late, etc. But making mistakes is how you learn.
This year I am moving the garden (a square foot-type garden) to an area that should have much more sun throughout the day. I had a bunch of trees cut down to open a spot up.
Of course, right now there is still a good layer of snow and ice on the ground. But the gardening juices are flowing and I am ready to go.
I have never used non-hybrid seeds before. This should be interesting. I am really curious if I have anything grow if I can get seeds from them for next year.
I'll keep you posted and maybe throw in a few pictures.
NOTE: Keeping with the "All That Is Necessary" theme on this blog does not mean only bashing collectivists, though that is pretty fun. It also means doing everything you can to be an independent individual. Growing your own food is well within that framework.
