At What Point Is The "Social Contract" Null & Void?

The headlines at this point in time are centered on the government takeover of the health-care system.  However, in the shadows government also continues to press hard for Cap & Trade, Amnesty for illegals, and other power grabs.  This is a massive transformation of our nation into a socialist state.  That is not hyperbole!  It IS happening and has been happening since the early 1900's.  Little by little over the past 100 years the collectivists have been chipping away at our Constitution and our freedom.  Today we are just seeing the culmination of the dreams of the collectivists.

I would venture a guess this is not the desire of most Americans.  Since the founding of the USA there has been a sort of "social contract".  We, the people, give up some of our freedom as individuals so the government can provide a basic, minimal framework for defense, commerce between states and a court system.  Some citizens do not abide by the contract, but most still do.

At what point has the government breached this contract?

Remember these words?

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. As it says in the Declaration Of Independence, "governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes", and that people will put up with a lot rather than abolish the things to which they are accustomed. 

BUT, at some point the contract has been so destroyed by one party that it cannot be held to exist any longer.

I would say we have passed the point where this government has the consent of the governed.  They have become destructive towards our rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness (property).

We have a chance in November 2010 to attempt to institute a new government.  This may be our last chance to do so.  Make sure you a part of the fight.  Fight for constitutionalists in the primaries, then vote for them in November. 

We can restore our social contract as it was meant to be if we want to, but only if we really desire it.

What Else Could Be In That Reconciliation Bill?

I saw this WSJ Opinion Piece referenced over at AceOfSpadesHQ.

It is entitled - That Other Government Takeover

Look what the collectivists are planning for student loans:

"Everyone knows Democrats are planning to use the budget reconciliation process to get ObamaCare through the Senate. Less well known is that Democrats are plotting add-ons to that bill to get other liberal priorities enacted—programs that could never attract 60 votes.

One of these controversial measures rewrites the Higher Education Act to ban private companies from offering federally guaranteed student loans as of this July."

The government doesn't like competition in its quest for unlimited power.

Democrats aim to bring their education revolution to the floor without a committee vote or even a hearing in the Senate.

The health care scam is bad enough.  Add in the takeover of student loans, plus whatever else the liberals may sneak into the overall bill, and you have an unbelievable increase in government control and an equal decrease in your freedom.

Debt - It Is OK If You Are The Government Run By Liberals

You probably have seen this headline:

CBO: National Deficit to Hit Nearly $10 Trillion Over Upcoming Decade

"The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office predicts that Obama's budget plans would generate deficits over the upcoming decade that would total $9.8 trillion. That's $1.2 trillion more than predicted by the administration."

Hey, what's to worry about?!?!

I keep having this word in my brain.  That word is "unsustainable", as in not being able to be sustained, as in our goose is cooked if we don't stop spending and start paying down debt.

We all know the "stop spending" part will never happen while the liberals are in charge.  So, pray for a massive upheaval this coming November, or stock up on gold/silver/food/ammo.  (Yes, I am one of those "preppers".)

On Why The Government Always Grows

In my reading about the Cloward-Pivens Strategy I came across this absolute gem of a passage.  It tells in the most concise way I have seen why government always grows bigger and bigger.

It was over on American Daughter:

"Why does virtually every liberal scheme result in ever-increasing public spending while conditions seem to get continually worse? There are a number of reasons:

   1. The programs usually create adverse incentives. This is especially true in so-called “anti-poverty” programs. The beneficiaries find government subsidies a replacement for, rather than a supplement to, gainful employment and eventually become incapable of supporting themselves. This in turn creates a dependent culture with its attendant toxic behaviors which demand still more government “remedies.”
   2. The programs create their own industry, complete with scads of “think tanks” and “experts” who survive on government research grants. These are the aptly named “Beltway Bandits.”
   3. They create their own bureaucracies, whose managers conspire with interested members of Congress to continually increase program funding, regardless of merit.
   4. Members of Congress secure votes and campaign donations by extorting them from beneficiaries of such programs, either through veiled threats — “vote for me or those mean Republicans will wipe out your benefits” — or promises of still more bennies.

In short, all develop a vested interest in the program’s survival. But if the result is always more and more government, of government, by government, and for government, with no solution in sight, then why do liberals always see government as the solution rather than the problem?"

Cloward-Pivens use this fact to implement their strategy to bring down the USA.  They are winning at the moment.

Sometimes The Collective Stupidity Is Just Too Much

I read the news sites, other blogs, listen to the radio.  Sometimes you just want to bang your head against the wall at all the stupidity of our so-called "leaders".  So I think I will do that:

When Does This Madness End?

By madness I mean the fantasyland the collectivists in D.C. live in.  They continue to spend money they don't have as if nothing is going on.  It is the old "I still have checks so I must still have money" joke.

The proposed budget is insane!  Our national debt is already so large we can barely afford the interest on it, never mind actually paying the principal back!  And yet the morons in D.C want to add another few trillion to the debt.  And Obama's talk of "cuts" was quickly revealed to be nothing of the sort.

People!  This is not sustainable!  This will end, and it will not be pleasant.

We can try and pull on the reins some in November 2010 and 2012.  It may be a case of too little, too late, though.  Still, on a national level it is probably the best we can hope for.  The collectivists are genetically incapable of stopping their spending spree.  Perhaps the Republicans can grow a spine and elect adults to try and clean up this mess.

On a personal level, get prepared for ANYTHING.  Rely on YOURSELF!  The government will not be there to help, and would only cause more problems anyway.

Crabs In A Bucket - Why Oppressive Governments Thrive

Ever hear of the "crabs in the bucket" syndrome?  From Wikipedia:

"The metaphor refers to a pot of crabs. Singly, the crabs could easily escape from the pot, but instead, they grab at each other in a useless "king of the hill" competition which prevents any from escaping and ensures their collective demise."

I have no idea if it is true about crabs, but I know it is true about a lot of humans.  You see it displayed in the black community quite often.  (I despise the term African-American.  They are AMERICAN, dammit!)  Anyway, you see it in schools or the workplace, where a black is very successful, bright, ambitious, and hated by the other blacks.  They say he/she is "acting white", or is an "oreo".  Perfect example of "crab in the bucket".

This happens in ALL groups, regardless of race.  I only use the black community because people see that one a lot. 

Well, liberals in government know all about the "crab in the bucket" mentality.  They use it all the time to pit one group against another.  They use it to build their own power, explaining to the "crabs" that they need the power to keep the other "crabs" from escaping the bucket.  This ensures that no crab escapes and all live in mediocrity and poverty.  This is possible because the people would rather tear others down than build themselves up.  The liberals in charge are not in the bucket, of course.  They just use the power of government to make sure everyone else stays in the bucket.

It is a sad fact of human existence that this is the state of affairs now in most of the world, and has been the case for most of human history.  A small group of collectivists use the "crab in the bucket" syndrome to rule a willing populace. 

For a brief moment in human history this mentality was kicked out and see what happened?  The richest, most free, most powerful country the world has ever seen.  That is the result of limited government, private ownership and the RULE OF LAW.

Vote in 2010 and gain in 2012 to destroy the bucket!

Not as well said as I would like, but you get the point.

Hook Up The Generator To The Democrats, 'Cause they're Gonna Spin This Loss Like Mad

Scott Brown did it!  He won.  This victory gives those of us who believe in freedom a little bit of real hope.  We are a VERY LONG WAY from slaying this monster of liberalism and collectivism, but we have now seen it can be done.  Think about it.  This was the seat Ted Kennedy had for 47 years.  It is now in Republican hands!

I see Brown's victory as a clear repudiation of Obama, Pelosi and Reid's collectivist agenda.  To me it is that simple.  People saw what "Hope & Change" was bringing them, and they didn't like it.

Now let us sit back and watch the democrat powers-that-be try to spin this loss as anything other than what it is.  They are already saying stuff like Coakley was a terrible candidate, or even that Brown's win was somehow a loss for the Republicans.  (I can't figure THAT one out.)

It will also be fun watching the Democrat Representatives and those Senators up for re-election. 

In any event, you know the collectivists are worried.   And they should be.

Now, on to November 2010!

UPDATE:  Just so you all don't get TOO excited, and to show how republicans are never too far from "being stupid", Scott Brown said on some interview this morning "he doesn't think it was a referendum on President Barack Obama".  Like Hell it wasn't!  Stupid thing to say.

There Are Only Two Types Of People

Let me see if I can get my point across with any amount of clarity.  I believe there are only two types of people in the world. 

The first type is the "collectivist".  Typically these people would be called democrats, liberals, socialists, marxists, communists, etc.  They believe there should be a central form of control over all people. 

The second type is the "individualist".  The people would be libertarian, and to a lesser extent republican or conservative.  This person believes the individual is the ultimate authority over their own existence. 

I am really starting to believe people are born with their brains already wired for collectivism or individualism.  Then you get into the nature versus nurture argument.  I think it is possible that an individualist born into a collectivist family will spout the collectivist line for quite some time, but eventually his/her individualism will "come out of the closet".  Same for the reverse situation.

The problem is that you can guess which type of person gravitates towards working in the government.  (That would be the collectivist.  The individualist is more concerned with creating jobs, providing for his/her family, taking responsibility for their own life.)  These collectivists, that, to their core, believe in the power and purpose of a central government, will then proceed to help enact laws constantly increasing the power of the central government.  (Sound familiar yet?)

The individualist, busily pursuing the dream of improving his own life, and, therefore, the life of his fellow man, doesn't see the danger coming his way.  

We are seeing the consequences of this problem today.

So, I don't believe the divisions in this world should be based on gender, color, geography, religion, etc.  The only division that matters is based on collectivist versus individualist.  Everything else flows from this divide.
