Just some random thoughts on what is going on in the USA today.

1.  We know for certain where there are billions of barrels of oil and trillions of cubic feet of natural gas IN the USA, yet we refuse to drill.

2.  We are tens of trillions of dollars in debt yet we are adding trillions to it every year with no end in sight.

3.  Every government program ever started has cost far more than planned and resulted in worse performance than private industry, yet we are about to put 20% of the economy, and our health, under government control.

4.  We know who causes 99% of all terror in the world, yet we refuse to profile.

I think that is enough for right now.  I can only take so much stupidity in a day.

More Climate Stupidity From The Senate

Saw this referenced over at Right Wing News.  Some Senators are thinking about abandoning the Cap & Trade tax garbage.

"Three key senators are engaged in a radical behind-the-scenes overhaul of climate legislation, preparing to jettison the broad "cap-and-trade" approach that has defined the legislative debate for close to a decade."

A good thing, right?  Yes and no.  Yes, in that they realize that Cap & Trade is pretty much dead.  No, in that they are contemplating something almost as bad.  But, remember, this is government we are talking about.  And government is about force and control, nothing more.

"Graham and Sens. John F. Kerry (D-Mass.) and Joseph I. Lieberman (I-Conn.) have worked for months to develop an alternative to cap-and-trade, which the House approved eight months ago....

According to several sources familiar with the process, the lawmakers are looking at cutting the nation's greenhouse gas output by targeting, in separate ways, three major sources of emissions: electric utilities, transportation and industry.

Power plants would face an overall cap on emissions that would become more stringent over time; motor fuel may be subject to a carbon tax whose proceeds could help electrify the U.S. transportation sector; and industrial facilities would be exempted from a cap on emissions for several years before it is phased in...."

For a start, there is basically NO man-made global warming or climate change, so this legislation is idiotic from the very beginning.  It is not necessary!

The regulation will absolutely crush the economy and drive what little manufacturing we have overseas, but there is one aspect that screams out in stupidity.  They are going to cap emission from power plants, then tax the hell out of gas to help pay for the electrification  of the transportation system.  Where are they going to get the electricity from?  Remember they are going to cap emissions from POWER PLANTS!!!  Do these people think through anything?

There is some talk in the proposed bill that would expand drilling and authorize more nuclear plants, but we know that part will never happen.

Remember, these climate bills, like the health-care bills, are about control only.  They solve nothing.

Sweep Congress clean in 2010!  They ALL need to go.

Sometimes The Collective Stupidity Is Just Too Much

I read the news sites, other blogs, listen to the radio.  Sometimes you just want to bang your head against the wall at all the stupidity of our so-called "leaders".  So I think I will do that:

Quick Reminder: Energy-Wise, We Are Screwed

Since Obama has been in office his administration has closed off places to drill domestically, canceled oil leases, in general done everything to shut down domestic production for oil and gas.

Gasoline prices zip toward $3 mark

"Prices have been jumping on the back of a strong oil market where the cost for a barrel has spiked 20 percent in the past month on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Oil prices are now about three times what they were a year ago."

So, expect even higher gasoline prices starting pretty much now.  Oh, and just wait for the oil and natural gas and propane bills you will be getting in the coming months.

Make sure you remember to thank the Democrats in November 2010.

House Republican Leader John Boehner has come out with 10 things you should know about the proposed democrat health-care plan.

And that is only for starters!  How about the fact that the U.S. Constitution DOES NOT AUTHORIZE ANY OF THIS!  (And please don't bring up the "general welfare" clause.  We all know it wasn't meant to cover this stuff.)

This monster of a government takeover MUST be stopped.  It will be devastating to our country.

If it does pass?  Get your escape plans in order and get out while you can.

Heads Up On Climate Change Power Grab

There is a UN conference in Copenhagen in December that might be of interest.  I don't know all the details but you should be aware of the danger to our freedom from this conference.

The second link is to a speech Lord Monckton gave in the U.S. two days ago.  The video is very long but, again, shows that the human-caused climate change religion is completely false.

Here is the portion from his speech that shows the danger coming in December:

"At [the 2009 United Nations Climate Change Conference in] Copenhagen, this December, weeks away, a treaty will be signed. Your president will sign it. Most of the third world countries will sign it, because they think they’re going to get money out of it. Most of the left-wing regime from the European Union will rubber stamp it. Virtually nobody won’t sign it.

I read that treaty. And what it says is this, that a world government is going to be created. The word “government” actually appears as the first of three purposes of the new entity. The second purpose is the transfer of wealth from the countries of the West to third world countries, in satisfaction of what is called, coyly, “climate debt” – because we’ve been burning CO2 and they haven’t. We’ve been screwing up the climate and they haven’t. And the third purpose of this new entity, this government, is enforcement.

And the trouble is this; if that treaty is signed, if your Constitution says that it takes precedence over your Constitution (sic), and you can’t resign from that treaty unless you get agreement from all the other state parties – And because you’ll be the biggest paying country, they’re not going to let you out of it.

So, thank you, America. You were the beacon of freedom to the world. It is a privilege merely to stand on this soil of freedom while it is still free. But, in the next few weeks, unless you stop it, your president will sign your freedom, your democracy, and your humanity away forever. I’ve seen this stuff about [world] government and climate debt and enforcement. They are going to do this to you whether you like it or not."

I hope you will be hearing more about this over the next few weeks.  Keep you eyes and ears open on this one.  It could be another very big nail in the coffin for the USA.

What Energy Plan?

"The Department of the Interior has frozen oil and gas development on 60 of 77 contested drilling sites in Utah, saying the process of leasing the land was rushed and badly flawed."

We are digging our own grave as a country.

Energy Is Still An Issue

Saw a post on Powerline called "Meanwhile, Our Energy Policy Is Still Perverse".  It wasn't all that long ago we were paying over $4 a gallon for gas.  Since then we have done nothing, NOTHING, to improve our situation.  From the above referenced post:

"The United States, for reasons that remain unfathomable, continues to be the only country in the world that refuses to develop its own energy resources. As a result, our economy is competing in the global marketplace with one hand tied behind its back."

You can be sure, though, other countries are going full steam ahead building power plants, drilling for oil and natural gas, making deals with each other, while we do nothing. 

"Another week, and another missed opportunity by Congress to address our nation's growing energy crisis. Russia is brokering a deal with communist Cuba to drill just miles from the Florida Keys. The Chinese are voicing interest in partnering with Canada to expand energy production. And Brazil is moving at breakneck speed to develop their oil and gas reserves offshore. But in Washington, our leaders sit idly by, debating misguided policies that will increase the cost of energy, cripple our economy, and make us less competitive."

Read that paragraph again.  Particularly the sentence about Russia, Cuba, and the Florida Keys.  That should make you blood boil.  We can't drill off Florida, but Russia and Cuba can.

I am pretty sure you won't see any progress on the energy front with the current government.  So, if this economy ever turns around, expect $4 a gallon to be cheap compared to what we will pay in the not-to-distant future.  And you can blame the Democrats for it.

The more I read about the details of the Cap & Trade Bill, the more terrifying this abomination becomes.  The scope of control by the federal government is incredible.  Below are links to posts on two very good blogs.  They write about some areas of the bill.  Your jaw will probably hit the floor on some of the edicts in this bill.

Bottom line - This bill will not have any impact on climate change.  It will severely damage our economy AND OUR FREEDOM!

The Senate is our last hope to kill this monster.  Some have said it will never pass the Senate.  I disagree.  The statists now have 60 votes, a super-majority, so they CAN pass it on their own.  However, you can always count on some RINOs, like those two idiots in Maine, to vote for this garbage.  Write your Senator and demand they vote against the bill.
