What Is Your Gut Telling You? - And I Ain't Talking About Diet

I could list dozens of headlines from today, yesterday, the day before that, etc., that paint a pretty bleak picture of our reality today economically and socially.  And I mean BLEAK!  From the horrendous economy, to run-away growth in government power and control, the housing crash, islamic terrorism, nations dying economically like Greece........you get the picture.

My gut is telling me this will not end well.  How about yours?  This is not reveling in doom and gloom theories.  This is looking at all that is going on today and thinking about the possible paths the USA and world will take. 

My gut is telling me a lot of voters will demand the government "do something".  Of course, it is the government that caused all this in the first place.  The rise of liberalism to power in the 1960's began the decline of America.  

My gut is telling me that the world will not choose wisely.  Instead of more freedom and liberty, they will choose command and control.

My gut is telling me there are entities out there that are actively seeking our destruction, and have been for decades.  Again, not conspiracy theories, just human nature.

My gut is telling me that as an average Joe, I am not at the top of any pecking order if things go bad.

My gut is telling me I should get better prepared for anything that might come because nobody else will do it for me.

My gut is telling me this didn't have to happen.

My gut is telling me to never forget what the collectivists have done to the USA.

We All Need To Learn To "Fish"

We probably all know the quote:

"Give a man a fish and he eats for a day.  Teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime."

Simple, and so true.  It also highlights the stark difference between today's liberals and those of us who love freedom.  The entire liberal handbook is about giving the masses their daily quota of fish.  This keeps the population dependent on the rulers for their existence.  The people know as long as the liberals are kept in power, they will get their fish. 

For a lot of people in the U.S. today, there is no longer the belief that they can learn to fend for themselves.  This is where our educational system has failed miserably since the 1960's.  Liberals took over the schools and indoctrinated generations of kids with the poison of liberalism.  They were taught to look to government to solve their problems. 

My belief is that everyone needs to be taught to fish.  When people learn they can succeed on their own whole new worlds are open to them.  They are no longer dependent on the liberal government.  They work hard, they succeed, they help others to succeed.  It is a virtuous cycle. 

What we need to do is get the schools back from the liberals and start to teach these kids how to fish.  I don't care what color you are or what belief system you have; every child out there has unlimited potential.  We should be teaching them that they are capable of ANYTHING!  And most important of all, we need to teach them the history of this country, warts and all.  And show them that, for all our faults, there have never been a more fantastic place to live and raise a family.  They need to have teachers that show pride in the USA.  Show them what our ancestors have accomplished in 200 short years!  And teach them the responsibility to keep themselves, and their children free.

It will be a long process.  The liberals will not give up, ever.  The schools are pretty thoroughly tainted.  But you can start at home.  Pay attention to what your kids are taught.  When you hear about some liberal garbage, teach your kids to find the truth.  The Internet is a wonderful tool.

Bring Back Personal Responsibility

A lot of what is wrong in our country is due to the death of personal responsibility.  It has happened over a half century, basically in conjunction with the rise of modern liberalism.  Starting in the 1960's, liberals started telling people that nothing was their fault.  Any bad decision you made was due to some nameless power.  It was never your fault.  You should be free to do whatever you wanted to do, and never worry about the consequences.  Their belief system centered on "if it feels good, do it".

Welfare is the oldest and best example of this.  Liberals got rid of the risk in being lazy and having kids you could not afford.  Why work?  Get a check from the government.  There is example after example over the past five decades of government/liberals removing any consequences to poor decisions.  Over time this impacts the attitude of the voting population.  Personal responsibility is tossed out the window.

The concept of personal responsibility needs to be re-born.  This will have to start in the home.  Parents need to teach their kids that actions have consequences.  If you screw up, admit it, fix it, and move on.  People will forgive you if you accept responsibility for a mistake. 

So, start now and take responsibility for your actions.  And teach your kids the same.

I am pretty sure that preppers and survivalists are well aware of this and practice personal responsibility much more than the general population.

In This War You MUST Choose Sides

What war am I talking about?  "The War Within The States".  It is the war between two different versions of the United States Of America. 

On one side you have the group currently in charge.  They are the collectivists, the believers in an all-powerful government.  They believe all wealth and decisions are best placed in the hands of a select few who know better than you how to live your lives.  They are also the voters who vote for these people.  These voters like the idea of a nanny state.  They want to give up their freedom for security.  So, you have the ruling "elite" and their willing serfs that make up one side of the war.

On the other side you have those that believe in the Jefferson statement that "That government is best which governs the least, because its people discipline themselves.", or in Washington's statement of "Government is not reason, it is not eloquence, it is force; like fire, a troublesome servant and a fearful master. Never for a moment should it be left to irresponsible action".

In a nutshell, those are the two sides.  YOU CANNOT SIT ON THE FENCE IN THIS WAR.  If you try, you will fall into the collectivist side, whether you like it or not.

This is not a racial, gender or socio-economic struggle.  Your color doesn't matter, your sex doesn't matter, and your current economic level doesn't matter.  Your beliefs and attitude matter.  Do you love freedom, liberty and personal responsibility?  Then you are on my side.

We can win this war.  Not by bullets or riots, but by ballots and emails.  Don't be quiet or think you don't matter.  Pester the hell out of your representatives - at all levels, run for office or help a like-minded freedom-lover to run.  Don't be quiet at that get-together where liberals think everyone there thinks as they do.  Speak up, you might be surprised.

Bottom line - this is a civil war for the control of our country.  Fight like you believe it!

Where Is Our Future - Once Again

This is a post of mine from about 10 months ago.  I think it is time to re-post it:

Where there is life, there is hope.  Not sure who came up with that phrase, but it is very true.  I am not talking about the false Hope & Change garbage that the Messiah and his minions are prattling on about.  I am talking about real hope.    The hope that my future, your future, our kids' future, will be better than what exists today.  Don't get me wrong.  What we have today is pretty damn good!  The USA has brought more freedom and, yes, hope, to the world than any other country, EVER.

We can continue to make this so.  However, the collectivists among us, namely the Liberals, Democrats, Communists, etc., want to stop our success.  Why?  Take your pick - guilt, envy, jealousy, greed, laziness, hate.  They believe in limits, in failure, in a world where the future is bleak, without hope.  Face it, have you ever seen a happy liberal?  (I mean other than when they are taking money from someone to give to someone else.)

I choose to side with those who believe the future is unlimited.  I believe in real hope that things will get better, that those who choose freedom, liberty, personal responsibility will win in the end.  Yes, it looks bleak at the moment.  The forces of collectivism are in charge, for now.

How to fight?  Start where you can, with your family.  Educate them, especially your kids, nieces, nephews, etc.  Have them read about our Founding Fathers, the risks they took to give us freedom.  Point out how the collectivists of today are trying to take these freedoms away, even in the smallest way.  (e.g. Do you think the Founders really had in mind the federal government regulating how much water your toilet could flush?!?!)

Then branch out.  Call you D.C. congress-critters.  Can't hurt.  They are politicians, so you never know what they are thinking.  But in D.C. it is the squeaky wheel that gets the grease.

With your friends and acquaintances don't be silent when they advocate collectivism.  Don't be a jerk, but just express real confidence in freedom and personal responsibility.  Make them think!

Do any little thing you can think of to promote liberty.   This is a marathon, not a sprint.  Just put one foot in front of the other for now.  If you feel like giving up, just look at your family.  Do you want them to live in freedom, or under a collectivist regime?

Just remember, where there is life there is hope.  Start today.

Peasants & Pitchforks

You may have seen all the clips showing regular people fed up with the antics of their "representatives in D.C.  The representatives and senators have been getting an earful.  HEHEHEHE!

Now the collectivist democrats and the mainstream media have decided to call these regular people "mobs" funded and directed by evil puppet masters.  They simply cannot imagine that ordinary people would take a look at the health-care fiasco, cap & trade, bailouts, and not get angry.  And then show up at town-hall meetings and make their voices heard. 

How dare the peasants revolt against their high and mighty lords!

I believe these "mobs" are true grass roots developments.  WE THE PEOPLE are standing up to our oppressors.  We don't have ACORN, the Sierra Club, NOW, etc. organizing demonstrations.  We actually work for a living, so when we go to protest at a meeting, you know it is important.  The leftists are the ones that rent mobs and are organized on a national level.  I think they are projecting their tactics onto us since they have no concept of individual action.  They live and die by collectivism. 

Keep it up people.  The "rulers" are getting nervous, so you know we are making progress.  This is good!

Time To Really Pay Attention

Well, the collectivists are now in complete control.  So now is the time for the rest of us, those who value freedom, liberty, and personal responsibility to really pay attention to what these crooks in D.C. have in store for us.  They will most definitely immediately start to increase government control in all areas of our lives.  More taxes, more rules, more regulations.  You can't do this, you can't do that, etc. They will spend more money than ever before, even though the money isn't there.

This is why you need to stay engaged.  Be watchful of what these politicians are trying to do.  Email or call them to complain when they try to implement collectivist policies.  It may not help if your Representative or Senator is an idiot (but I repeat myself), but it certainly won't hurt.

And it is coming fast, folks.  Just this morning I saw a commercial promoting the Employee Free Choice Act, that horrible act that would do away with the secret ballot when a union tries to unionize a company.  They want to act fast, before reality sets in.

Most importantly, do not give in to the desire to say "the Hell with it" and give up.

Shopper Madness

Let's see.  A Wal-mart employee killed by shoppers that broke through the doors at opening and crushed the poor guy to death.  Hardly anyone stopped.  Scum.

At another store a fight breaks out over the last XBox 360.  Wow.  What a nice story for the kids who get that XBox.  "Daddy beat the tar out of some other person for that.  Enjoy it, kids."

Is this a symptom of the decline of common decency in the USA, or has it always been like this?  I don't know.  Maybe with all the cameras out there and the Internet we just get to see more of it.  Still, it is pretty pathetic that it happens.

So, don't participate in this stuff, folks.  Be kind, be considerate, be a human.
